Hi guys! I need some help with english homework, just few easy sentences.

Complete the second sentece so that it has a similar meaning to the first sentence, using the word given.

For eg. ,,Did you have luch with mary?" she asked. (he) She asked him .... with Mery. She asked him if he had had lunch with mary.

1. "have you seen kate today" i asked john. (had)  I asked john... kate today.

2. If you don't know his phone number, try the Yellow pages. (look)  If you don't know his phone number, you can... in the Yelow Pages.

3. I only bought it because i thought you would like it. (I) If i hadn't thought you would like it, ..... it.

4. Take a jacket, because it may be chilly. (case) Take a jacket.... chilly.

6. A cover letter should accompany your application. (by) Your application... a cover letter.

7. His last book is better than his previous one. (as) His previous book..... his last one.

8. When did you meet her? (know) How.... her?

9. It would be a good idea to drive more carefully. (better) You...,... more carefully.

It is kind of splitting hairs, and both are correct, but in question 1, to follow the pattern the answer should be: "I asked John if he had seen Kate today. not" "I had asked John if he had seen Kate today." - Elizabeth Mallory 6 years ago
