it is by transposing 3 to the other side.

that makes the equation square root of y+4  is equal to -1

to eliminate the square root, you have to square both sides

that gives you y+4= 1

                     y=1-4 by transpositon

               so,  y=-3

yo cancel root you should square the number which comes after equal

so y+3+4=22

 

y+7=4

y=4-7

y=-3
