the actual side of square is=12cm

if the side was increased by 4cm then= 12cm+4cm

                                                      =16cm

area of square is             =l^2

                                   =(16)^2

new area of square is   =256cm^2

We know that in square all sides are equal

The given side of square = 12 cm

if the side will extended by 4 cm = 12 cm + 4 cm

Length  of new extended square   =16cm

Now we find the area of new square

Area of square               =L²

                                   =(16)²

                                   =16 x 16

Area of square             = 256 cm²
