the selling price of washing machine is= 12500

profit gain by the shopkeeper=8%

cost price?

c.p.=[100/(100+gain%)*s.p.]

=[100/(100+8)*12500]

=[100/108*12500]

c.p =11575

if he sell it  for 10500 then, loss=c.p.-s.p.

=11575-10500

=1075

loss in %=[loss*100/c.p]

=1075*100/11575

=9%

we can solve it with many method here we use simplest method

selling price of washing machine = 12500

profit gain by the shopkeeper=8%

cost price?

if profit rate is 8% out of 100% then the remaining (100-8)% = 92% is cost price of machine

simply we multiplied SP with cost rate

12500 x 92%

12500 x 92/100

12500 x 0.92

cost price = 11,500

if he sale it Rs 10,500

Loss = ?

Loss % = ?

Loss = CP - SP

=11500 - 10500

Loss= Rs. 1000

Loss % = Loss divided by CP and multiplied by 100

Loss % = 1000 * 100 /11500

Loss = 8 %
