A multiple is a number that represents more than one quantity of a particular number. For example, 8 would be a multiple of 2 because 8 is equivalent to 4 of the number 2.

A mathematical operation that indicates how many times a number is added to itself. 2 x 4 = 8 is an example of multiplication.
