assume the number X then,

                                    x/3+9=2x-16

                                     =>x/3=2x-16-9

                                       =>x/3=2x-25

                                        =>x=6x-75

                                          =>x-6x=-75

                                           =>-5x=-75

                                                x=15

so the number is,x=15

                                  15/3+9=2(15)-16

                                    5+9=30-16

                                       14=14
