Let the number be i,

then no: i added to 3 times its reciprocal the result is 5 3/5

reciprocal of i is 1/i

3times reciprocal of i is 3/i

so, i+3/i = 5 3/5

i^2 +3 =28i/5 [on taking lcm ]

5i^2 +15 =28i

5i^2 -28i +15 =0

On solving the quadratic equation,

5i^2 -25i -3i+15 =0

5i(i-5) -3(i-5) =0

(5i-3)(i-5)=0

i=5 or i=3/5

So the number will be 5 or 3/5
